Advent 9 – Delight

There’s this totally lovely sound that is delight… The uncontrollable giggle of a toddler. Unfortunately, I have no easy access to toddlers, giggling or otherwise. But I did get to spend time with a corgi this weekend.

He was snuggly and perky and happy to hang out. There’s something about those perky ears and bright eyes that remind me of that toddler energy. I’m not sure which of us were more delighted by the other’s company…

How lovely to think that same mutual delight is part of our relationship with God. From Zephaniah 3…

“Do not fear, Zion;
do not let your hands hang limp.
17 The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.”
