When we were planning our wedding, we’d already chosen our rings. Gold and silver, with a design that looked like a braid. We learned later that for the gold and silver to adhere like that requires real craftmanship, patience and attention.
Our wedding was quite traditional, vows and rings exchanged, hymns and scriptures, and a lovely homily. It was a day steeped in love and promises that bound together two people, two families, two histories, two lifetimes of stories. The next 19 years have requires patience and attention to keep that bond intact. There is a craft to honoring those promises.
How much more fully does God honor covenants across generations? We are bound to God by boundless grace.
