As we enter a new semester, some of us are feeling a little frayed and blurry around the edges. Some of us feel much closer than that to just plain falling apart.
God who sees beyond time and space, give us perspective. Lift our eyes beyond the horizon today and every day, minute by minute if we need it.
Holy Spirit who blows wherever you will, breathe into us the freedom of the gospel. Break the bondage of performance, of perfectionism, of pleasing others through our diligence and bind us to God’s will for us with the perfect love that casts out fear.
Word of God who spoke the whole of creation into being and speaks grace, truth and love into our lives today, save us. Save us from drowning in words on pages, on videos, in forums and on powerpoints. Save us from our unbelief. Reach out across the waves of doubt when we take our eyes off you, and say to us again, “It’s me. Don’t be afraid.”
Holy, loving, patient and gracious Creator, hear our prayers for this new semester. Prayers for us, for our families, for our instructors, for our supervisors, and for all those who cheer us on.
