Yeah, I’m late… but this one looked to fun to pass by:
It’s time for a Back-To-School Friday Five!
1. Is anyone going back to school, as a student or teacher, at your house? How’s it going so far?
Three of four in our household are back in school!! The FPK is in his final year of pre-high school bliss. The hubby is taking classes toward an Ed.D. And I’m about 23% through my MDiv. The hubby and I are both working full-time while in classes, so this first 2-3 weeks are the most insane. Once we find what normal looks like for the semester, we can rock and roll! Not that it’s easy, but it can be done.
2. Were you glad or sad when back-to-school time came as a kid?
I was (am) such a geek. Loved school. Loved all about going back except the shopping. Still do!
3. Did your family of origin have any rituals to mark this time of year? How about now?
We were an academic family- Mom was a professor at the local university, Dad was on staff with the local school district, and we kids were expected to excell at school. The beginning of the year meant lectures on being responsible, etc.
Now, the Boy’s birthday is usually somewhere in the first few days of school. So, we end up celebrating. This comes after the annual backpack search.
4. Favorite memories of back-to-school outfits, lunchboxes, etc?
Loved the lunch box with The Hair Bear Bunch… and the one that was plain red with a red plaid thermos. I was not much of a clothes horse, so the only outfit I really remember was in junior high when I had the coolest overalls. ever.
5. What was your best year of school?
Hmmm… for public school– anything before or after Jr High. Post HS, it would have to be this last year. It has been such a blast to learn Greek, dig into scripture and learn about the global church.
