Friday Five – Fantasy Island Edition
After an unexpected island getaway required some quick preparation, our RevGal Friday Five hostess posed this question to the rest of us…
Suppose you were told to pack some essentials for a trip to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.Describe your location, in general or specific terms and….
I’d have to hop a flight up to Maine, then drive to the camp my inlaws have on a lake near Windsor. It’s a little cabin so far back in the woods, you can’t even hear the road noise. Just loons…
1) What book(s) will you bring?
Hmmm.. the Bible. I’m about to start Velvet Elvis. Probably an Entertainment Weekly. And I always treat myself to an Airport Bookstore find. Probably Christopher Moore’s latest.
2) What music accompanies you?
My iPod. It’s got everything from Brubek to Barenaked Ladies to Relient K
3) What essentials of everyday living must you take (as in the health and beauty aids aisle variety)?
Colgate & toothbrush. Shampoo & conditioner (can’t stand to leave lake water in the hair). Deodorant. Soap. Maybe some eyeliner & mascara if the hubby feels a little randy.
4) What technological gadgets if any, will you take with you or do you leave it all behind?
Just the iPod and earphones. Cell phone in case the phone line goes down.
If I got too anxious to hear from someone, I could drive into town to the library for some internet. Bummer that I’d miss out on RevGal Trivia.
5) What culinary delights will you partake in while there?
As a bonus question, what makes for a perfect day on vacation for you?
Sleeping until I am so sore that I can’t lay in bed anymore (at least noon)
Scrambled eggs with some bacon and OJ
A book on the back porch with Diet Dr Pepper
A dip in the lake when it gets hot, with a shower and nap after
A game of scrabble before and/or after dinner (by the grillmaster)
Another chapter as I fall asleep.
